A park in Ryde that was given a green flag for Cleanliness and safety has been leaking raw sewage for the last 3 days without being cleaned up by the council.
A local dog walker contacted the Isle of Wight Chronicle after being concerned about the parks safety
Reports tell us this raw sewage had been there for over 3 days before before the drain was fixed and cleaned up, even after being reported by many dog walkers from Ryde.
A dog walker who filmed the sewage said: “I was stooping down to clear up after my dog at Appley beach in Ryde Isle of Wight when someone I knew asked me if I had seen the sewage at the top of the park behind the beach.”
“He told me it had been reported the previous day but nothing had been done. I took pictures shortly afterwards and i returned the next day and nothing had changed. Dog owners are constantly being persecuted due we are told to the hazards of dog fouling. At least I had boots on when I walked through this, my dog didn’t. In a Green Flag Award winning park!”
The council has now fixed the drain and stopped the sewage.
