A section of the Cowes to Newport Cycle Track will be closed from today (Wednesday 14 July) for two days so that emergency repairs can be carried out.
Burrowing rabbits have undermined a section of the track near the foot bridge south of Stag Lane. The council needs to close the track to make repairs and keep it safe.
It is expected that the work will be completed fairly quickly allowing the track to be reopened before the weekend. Pedestrians are being diverted along Dodnor Lane and along public footpath N30. A diversion route for cyclists and pedestrians has been put in place along Dodnor Lane, St Mary’s Roundabout, A3020 Parkhurst Road, Horsebridge Hill and Stag Lane.
The council apologises for the short notice and appreciates that this will be inconvenient although it is important that these works are done now to keep the route safe.
