Red Funnel Ferries has launched a new Isle of Wight travel website for smartphone users in time for Cowes Week 2010.
The new site offers mobile customers on the move detailed timetable information for both Red Funnel’s Southampton/East Cowes route and the Southampton/West Cowes Red Jet Hi-Speed service.
In addition, live service updates are available including live vessel position information so customers can easily see the location of the ferry they plan to catch, including its speed and heading. It also provides the latest Red Funnel news, offers and information on how to find the ferry terminals which are shown on a Google map. New features will be added in the future and a new iPhone Application is in development and will be launched in September.
Jonathan Green, Sales & Marketing Director commented, “The rapid growth of smartphones and development possibilities afforded by such devices coupled with demand from travelers for accurate and up-to-date travel information led us to develop the new website in time for this years Cowes Week.
An app specifically for the iPhone is in development and will launch in September and new functionality will be added to both platforms in the future.” Smartphone users who visit www.redfunnel.co.uk will be automatically directed to the new site.
