BEMBRIDGE LIFEBOAT CALLED TO ASSIST LONE YACHTSMAN

A Pan-Pan call was made to Solent Coastguard this morning (19 September 2010) after after a lone yachtsman become stuck and reported problems with his anchor.

The single handed owner of the 40ft Oojah yacht had problems recovering his spinnaker and said the top of spinnaker was dry.

The Oojah was trying to make its way back into Bembridge harbour and called for assistance around 200 yards north of St Helens fort. The Bembridge RNLI Rib was called out at 11:20am this morning to assist the man.

The Lifeboat arrived to the Casualty at 11:40am this morning and helped untangle the vessel, they finally got the spinnaker on board at 12:20 this afternoon.
