Damiens Billboard

The 2nd of November 2010 marks the 14th anniversary that Damien Richard Nettles went missing from Cowes and his devastated family and friends are still non the wiser as to what happened on that night.

Damiens anniversary has been marked with a giant billboard poster on the Medina Way slipway, made possible by various people and businesses across the Isle of Wight

Damien went missing November 2, 1996 and was last spotted Cowes High Street. His family would like to encourage anyone who may have knowledge of what happened that night to come forward to help the  find a resolution to what is an endless grief.

Damien’s family are appealing to people on the Island to come forward and tell the police what they know and they are still convinced that the answer lies on the Isle of Wight. They believe that something bad happened to Damien that night. Who saw Damien on the night of November 2, 1996? It is a long time ago but people will still remember this very well…What do you know??

The Night He Went Missing

Damien had been out with friends and parted company from them at approx 10.30pm.  He was seen on Cowes High St by various people.  He was also caught on security camera at Yorkie’s Chip Shop on Cowes High Street at approx 11:45pm. He was surrounded by a group of 5/6 men. 14 years later and only three of these men have been identified.  Two were army officers who were in Cowes for training in sailing and the other, possibly a local drug dealer, who has since passed away, who was not identified until after his death.

The first two men were identified after a documentary, which aired in January 1997, 2 months after Damien went missing. They were not local. The National Missing Persons Charity was given an anonymous tip that these men were from the Army, one a Major based in Aldershot and the a Lieutenant based on the south coast.  They were interrogated and claim they did not know anything, however, both of them held conversation with Damien, as seen on the CCTV video.

Were you at Carisbrooke High School?

Did you hear about the bullying that took place against Damien at a party at a girls house right next to Yafford Mill?  Damien told his parents that  the house contained Nazi memorabilia.  He was abused and humiliated there by Carisbrooke High School students.  Who were they?  He was drawn over with black marker, held down, and when he tried to leave someone used a can of aerosol and lit it with a lighter and singed his coat…. and if that was not enough they shot at him with a BB Gun. Do you know who might have wanted to harm him again?

Friends and family of Damien will also be  on www.vectisradio.com on Tuesday 2nd of November around 10.30, If you missed the last interview with Valerie Nettles and Ian Mac you can listen again below listen again here.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Damien is asked to contact the police direct on 101 or contact the Crimestoppers  helpline on 0800 555 111. You can also find out more at http://www.damiennettles.com
