Paramedics from the Isle of Wight ambulance service were called out this evening help free a trapped pensioner from his car after he lost control and came to a stop in a hedge.
The incident took place on Victoria Avenue in Shanklin at around 4.30pm this evening. The man was treated at the scene suffering from hypothermia and shock before being transferred to St Mary Hospital in Newport.
Police from Shanklin RPU closed the road while specialists recovered the vehicle.
No other vehicles were involved in the road traffic collision.
