REW VALLEY UNDER 11s MATCH REPORT: THE 9th GAME

Football Field

Rew Valley v Gurnard Eagles: On a cold and sunny Sunday morning, Rew Valley were home to Gurnard Eagles which were a strong side. With Rew Valley with their full 11 how would they do???

The game started with the evenly matched sides pushing for the ball. Jake Ferguson and George Hyde played fantastically in midfield. The ball was moving up and down the pitch like a yoyo and excellent tackles from both teams were being done.

Finally a goal was scored but Gurnard scored it in the 12th minute. Callum Steele responded with a fantastic goal in the 14th minute which was a lob. Antony Kettell gave Rew Valley the lead with a superb goal in the 18th minute. The game was then dominated by the Valley and Antony Kettell scored a magnificent goal in the 30th minute to put the half time score 3-1 at half time.

With the 5 minute team talk over, Rew Valley went out fighting but with an early goal by Gurnard, things were going to be a struggle. Harry Wintersgill scored a glorious goal in the 34th minute but Gurnard responded with a goal in the 35th minute. Baggy Silman and Jack Croad played fantastic up front. The teams were evenly matched and both teams struggled when the opposition were on the attack.

Declan Clarke and Callum Ryan played superb in midfield and Travis Steptoe and Declan Morgan Philips played phenomenal in defence and with the risk of a 2 man defence, it certainly worked!!!! A brave tackle from Rew Valley ended up by conceding a penalty but despite Bailey Exposite’s brilliant goal keeping, it didn’t stop Gurnard for scoring the penalty which brought the score to 4-4. Despite several attempts to grab a late winner, Gurnard were awake and kept Rew Valley at bay to keep the final score 4-4.

An entertaining match today. Although Rew Valley didn’t win, a brilliant performance was shown by the Valley. We all look forward to playing them again soon.

Final Score: Rew Valley 4 Gurnard Eagles 4
Captain: Travis Steptoe
Man of the Match: George Hyde
