Motorcyclists suspected of causing criminal damage to farmland on the Isle of Wight are being investigated by police.
The West Wight Safer Neighbourhoods team is making enquiries into reports of anti-social behaviour linked to three riders.
Concerns were raised about the behaviour of off-road motorcyclists in the Wilmingham Lane and Copse Lane areas of Freshwater on the afternoon of Monday, December 13, 2010.
Investigating officer PC Andy Fidler of the West Wight Safer Neighbourhoods team said: “Enquiries are continuing into reports of three motorcyclists causing damage by riding on bridleways and farmland in Freshwater.
“We’re grateful to members of the community who’ve given us information while on patrol in the area over the past week.
“One line of enquiry is an apparent argument and altercation that was overheard between motorcycle riders and members of the public during the afternoon of Monday, December 13 on the bridleway that runs along the former railway line between Freshwater and Yamrouth.
“I’m appealing to witnesses who were using that bridleway on December 13 to contact Yarmouth Police Station. We would also encourage people with any information about the identity and behaviour of these riders to get in touch with the West Wight Safer Neighbourhoods team.”
