Three ‘bundles of joy’ arrived in time for Christmas 2010 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Newport, Isle of Wight.
First to arrive at 11:20 in the morning on 25th December was Dylan, a son for Kaly and Stuart Chilcott of Shanklin. Dylan weighed in at 9lb 2ozs (4.15kgs).
He was quickly followed at 12:00 mid-day by Marli, a daughter for Louise and Robert Ixer of Freshwater. Marli weighed in at 6lbs 12ozs (3.05kgs).
Finally, at 16:20 in the afternoon Mia, a daughter for mum Neli Karavasileva and dad Todor Bahchevanski of Ryde, arrived. Mia weighed in at 7lbs 9ozs (3.43kgs).
Head of Midwifery for NHS Isle of Wight, Annie Hunter said: ” Congratulations to all three sets of parents on their new arrivals. Christmas is a special time in the Maternity Unit. I am grateful to all the staff who agreed to work on Christmas Day and across the Christmas period. “
In a recent national survey 95% of mothers rated the care they received from the Maternity Service on the Island as good (13%), very good (22%) or excellent (61% – compared to 41% nationally).
