PLEASE DONT BREAK OUR HEARTS MR PUGH

The Alliance delivered hundreds of Valentine messages to Council Leader David Pugh at County Hall yesterday morning (Monday 14th February).

Following the successful collection of Valentine cards on Saturday in Newport, Ventnor and Ryde, Alliance supporters will pay a visit to County Hall at 11am on Valentine’s Day to personally deliver them on behalf of Island residents.

The cards carry a message of love for Island public services and a plea to Leader Pugh not to break residents hearts by pressing ahead with the leading group’s cuts budget.

A small delegation of Alliance supporters, lead by Tanja Rebel, will deliver the messages and a large „love heart? card in the hope that the personal messages from Islanders will melt the hearts of the Tory councillors.

“Local residents love their public services and don?t want to see them dismantled. These hundreds of cards were collected on Saturday in a very short while. All of the messages are personally written and it shows the depth of feeling among people.

“Some small concessions have already been made by the Cabinet members; however, it is clear that Islanders believe more can, and should, be done”, stated Alliance chair, Tanja Rebel.
