On a bitterly cold day, Rew Valley hosted Oakfield at their home pitch of Ventnor. With the last 2 games called off on the pitch we were playing on due to frozen pitch, it was unpredictable if the game would be on???
Well it was…….. The game started with 2 very quick and sloppy goals by Oakfield. Antony Kettell scored a superb goal in the 20th minute to bring the Valley back into the game. George Hyde, Travis Steptoe and Declan Morgan-Philips played brilliant in defence stopping many Oakfield players getting through with the ball. Unfortunately for Rew Valley, Oakfield scored in the 22nd and 29th minute. Bailey Exposite player exceptional in goal as always creating saves that were fantastic. Half time arrived with the score 1-4.
After the 5 minute break, the second half began. Oakfield scored in the 34th and 36th minute. Jack Croad and Callum Ryan played superb up front, using every opportunity to attack when possible. Jake Ferguson, Declan Clarke, Harry Wintersgill and Callum Steele played great in midfield during the match. Oakfield continued to score in the 48th, 50 and 29th minute. Full time came with the score 1-9.
What a shame. Well the positives are that we scored thanks to Antony Kettell, and we had a brilliant goalkeeper. Let’s hope next week is better.
