TWO ARRESTS AFTER YOUTH STABBED IN EAST COWES

Police on the Isle of Wight have arrested two teenagers after a youth was stabbed and another injured in East Cowes last night, Friday, February 4.

Around 9.45pm on Friday 4th February, officers were called Gort Road, East Cowes, after reports of a public order incident involving a large group of youths.

A 16 year-old boy received a knife wound to his back during the incident and an 18-year-old man was also assaulted. Other assaults committed during the incident are also being investigated. Officers arrested two other youths aged 16 and 18 on suspicion of carrying out these assaults.

The pair, who are from the Island, are currently being questioned and a number of lines of enquiry are being pursued at this time.

A number of youths who were present during the incident have received other non-knife related injuries, none of which are serious.

A number of witnesses have come forward and provided very useful information, however officers are still keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or may have information that can assist the enquiry.
