Police are renewing an appeal for witnesses after a suspected arson attack in a kitchen at a building containing East Cowes Library and a child care business on the Isle of Wight.
Metal cutlery was placed into a microwave, which was left running, leading to the risk of a fire and danger to people’s lives and property.
The alleged arson attack happened sometime between 1pm and 2pm at the address in York Avenue, East Cowes on Monday, May 9, 2011.
A 37-year-old man from Portsmouth was arrested on May 9, 2011 on suspicion of arson. He was bailed until June 13, 2011 pending further enquiries.
A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said: “Thankfully there were no reports of injuries in what could have been a more serious fire. Police have pursued several lines of enquiry in the community over the past fortnight and would like to thank everyone who has given information to us already. We remain keen to hear from other witnesses who saw anyone in the area near the entrance to East Cowes Library between 12pm and 1.30pm on Monday, May 9.”
