A 50 year old man from London died on Friday after falling overboard during the Morgan Cup Race
Christopher Reddish from Clapham Junction, London, fell from the 40ft yacht “Lion” during bad weather on Friday. (17th June)
He was recovered by crew members but later pronounced dead onboard by a doctor. The Marine Accidents Investigation Branch has begun an inquiry into the incident, which happened about 10 miles off Selsey Bill.
A Mayday call was picked up by the coastguard and the boat was later escorted into Portsmouth Naval base by Bembridge Lifeboat.
Police were called to prepare a report for the coroner. The incident is not thought to be suspicious.
