Police on the Isle of Wight arrested a man in Ryde yesterday after reports he was carrying a handgun.
Firearms officers were called in to intercept the 66-year-old as he was driving along Brading Road in Ryde.
A Spokesman for Hampshire and Isle of Wight police said the weapon was found to be an airgun made to resemble a military firearm. The man is being held on suspicion of possessing firearm in a public place without lawful authority or reasonable excuse.
