A yacht with engine trouble in the Solent received the assistance of Cowes RNLI lifeboat to reach safety this evening.
The yacht, the 36 foot Arion, reported it had engine trouble in a Force 5 westerly near the mouth of Beaulieu River. It was on passage from Itchenor, Chichester Harbour, to Beaulieu.
With Simon Hawkins at the helm, the lifeboat raced to the scene and towed the yacht to a swinging mooring two miles up the river. The lifeboat had been off station for 90 minutes.
