NHS Isle of Wight Chief Operating Officer Karen Baker will be swimming to work on Thursday 8th September.
Karen is taking part in the Wild West Solent Swim when up to fifty swimmers will be leaping into the water at Hurst Castle and swimming to Colwell Bay on the Isle of Wight, all in aid of West Wight Sports Centre, which is a Charitable Trust on the Island.

Karen joined the NHS in 1979 as a Student Nurse and moved into midwifery, spending 10 years delivering babies. Karen has worked for the NHS across a variety of services in Basingstoke, London and Southampton. She has been responsible for a range of services including Maternity, Children’s, Emergency, Older People and Cancer and took over as the Island’s Chief Operating Officer in April 2010.

Karen and her partner live in Winchester. They have two children – one is at University and the other works in the NHS. Karen, a keen sailor and cyclist, cycles to work on a regular basis and earlier this year took part in the Round the Island Race.
