Detectives are appealing for a possible key witness to come forward after an allegation of indecent assault on the Isle of Wight.
A 23-year-old woman from the island contacted police to say she was indecently assaulted by a man while they were parked in lay-by near Bulley’s Hill and Brading Down.
The woman and man were sat in a red Citroen Picasso MPV at the time of alleged assault, which took place at around 10am on Wednesday, August 3, 2011.
A 59-year-old man from the Isle of Wight was arrested on August 3, 2011 on suspicion of criminal acts under the Sexual Offences Act 2003, questioned by detectives, and bailed until November 4, 2011 pending further enquiries.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Gill Harvey of Isle of Wight CID said: “Enquiries since August 3 have established that a middle aged woman was also parked in the lay-by at the same time. She was walking near the Citroen Picasso before getting into a silver car and driving away. It is possible this woman may have seen who was inside the Citroen. I’m appealing for this woman to come forward and speak with police about what she may have witnessed.
“We would also be keen to hear from anyone else who was driving or walking near Bulley’s Hill and Brading Down on the morning of Wednesday, August 3, particularly if they remember seeing a red Citroen Picasso MPV parked in the area.
“The victim has told police she feared for her safety and has been left upset by the events of that day.”
