The Isle of Wight Council has today (13 October) issued notice of election for its West Wight ward.
Nominations are being sought for the seat recently vacated due to the death of Councillor Stuart Dyer.
Forms of nomination for the election may be obtained from the returning officer at County Hall, Newport. The returning officer will, at the request of an elector for the ward area, prepare a nomination paper for signature.
If the election is contested (more than one nomination is received), the poll will take place on Thursday 17 November.
The closing date for receipt of nomination papers – delivered to the returning officer at County Hall, Newport – is Friday 21 October (no later than noon).

* 21 October (noon) – closing date for receipt of nomination papers (to returning officer at County Hall, Newport).
* 2 November (5pm) – closing date for applications, amendments or cancellations of postal votes (to electoral registration officer at County Hall, Newport).
* 9 November (5pm) – closing date for applications to vote by proxy (to electoral registration officer at County Hall, Newport).
* 17 November (5pm) – closing date for applications to vote by proxy at this election on grounds of physical incapacity, where that physical incapacity occurred after 5pm on Wednesday 9 November (to electoral registration officer at County Hall, Newport).
* 17 November (7am to 10pm) – poll to take place (if contested).
