About

IW Chronicle News Van

The Isle of Wight Chronicle  website began at the start of 2008 under the name of WightLiving, It was a one man community blog for the Isle of Wight.

In May 2010 the former owner, Jim Bean handed over the website  and since taking over we have spent  many sleepless nights updating the site to what you see today. We have moved the site over to a much faster server here in the UK and have upgraded memory to better serve the Isle of Wight community.

That’s not all, you will notice many new and exciting changes coming up in the next few months so please stick with us as we continue to add new features to the site.

May 2010: We have now purchased the domain name iwchronicle.co.uk and are in the process of transferring the site over to a new UK server. Older readers will still be able to visit the site using www.wightliving.info until it expires at the end of this year. We have also added a Live Chat system so you can talk to us live, this is a great way for you the reader to break the news or also inform us on any traffic problems you feel others should know about.

September 2010: Just three months of running the Isle of Wight Chronicle we have now built up many new island contacts and have also featured on Vectis Radio with Ian Mac and plan on more soon. Our website stats are now growing steadily, currently getting over 1.3 million hits a month and serving over 800,000 pages. This is much better than we first anticipated and has made us think about the future of the Isle of Wight Chronicle. We have now stepped up a gear and have  formed a limited company for the business and are looking into the costs of producing small community newspaper in the near future.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you, the loyal reader and our local advertisers, if it was not for your kind support we would not be where we are today.
