WTF?!?! An adult who did nothing? That is just....wow....wonder what he/she would have been doing if it was her/his child in the water? Leave it to teenagers, they seem to be concerned about safety more than adults do....

This code will ONLY work on a trip from Southsea.
To apply the discount for escapees from the Isle of Wight the code needs to be 'HHRYDE10'

This annoys me. the minority spoil it for the rest, my thoughts are with the girl and her family. We have great events on the island but instead of the good times we end up remembering the bad things like this. I read on another site that another 15 year old was also assaulted

Whilst any trip at under £2.00 is clearly a bargain lets not forget that Hovertravel impose a rip-off mandatory booking fee on all web bookings.
Ergo - this trip is not £1.00

While I respect the sincerity of those who will demonstrate I cant help feeling that they will be met with the usual tactics that are used to placate the oppressed.
The council will express sympathy and admiration for those demonstrating.
They will repeat a mantra on the lines of "every effort will be made to save services" knowing that obedience to the head office in whitehall is the bottom line along with the avoidance of cuts to grotesque wage structures within the council itself.
The demonstrators will come away feeling much better than when they gathered to make their points feeling they have struck a blow for the people when in reality they will have trod the well worn path of subservience to a bunch of authritarian bunglers.

This is a good opportunity spot for a new public space, although it looks more like a tiny new pedestrianised section of street. perhaps the design of the square doesn't yet look much like a square.

Remove the 'pavement lines' so that people have clear ownership of the entire space, put the benches at the edge so people can face 'the square'. Either leave the centre clear to allow for a variety of events and activities, or put a water feature or something people can informally perch on, in the centre and you have the beginnings of a square.

Then all you need is lots of square type action facing it from the surrounding buildings.... oh and the bench is horrible. Cold metal, in the shade, a design that will date... horrible lighting column and bin cluttering up the space - put the lights on the surrounding buildings or hang them from wires, and take out as much of the unnecessary 'furniture as possible.
